Nurturing My Soul in the Cold of Winter

Last week I talked about movement meditation – letting your body move to music the way it wants to.  In my Weekly Pondering on Facebook, I talked about skating and how that can be a meditation for me.

This week’s writing is more about those days when it’s just too cold to even venture outside – kind of like last week!  What do I do then to nurture my soul and sustain my LOVE Energy?

Well, I still have my “Movement Meditation” on Friday from 10 to 11 am at the QVCA in Fort Qu’Appelle.  Come on out if you’re in the area.

On other days, like this poor robin all puffed up to stay warm, I’d rather wrap up in a blanket and read a book!  Sometimes a novel, sometimes a self-help or informational book.  Even a good novel is nourishment for the soul at times.

This would be an awesome time for a silent retreat!  I’ll have to look into that.  Actually, I believe my friend Sue Bland is holding a retreat at the Qu’Appelle House of Prayer the end of February called “In the Deep Heart of Winter”.  I find it calling to me.

And of course, the cold of winter is the perfect time to meditate, maybe even two or three times a day!  All kinds of meditation – simply sitting in silence, asking a question to hear the answer, connecting with soul to figure out what to do next, making mandalas, colouring, and the list goes on.  I find that the more I meditate, the more I crave that connection, silent or otherwise.
