Beautiful Footprints

As I was out walking the other day, just after a little snowfall, I happened to look down and noticed all the footprints in the snow.  Together, they made a beautiful unique pattern.  They were all different.  They had different designs from the bottom of the boots or shoes.  Some were from heavier people or whatever and had taken away almost all of the snow.  Some had only the heal left intact; some only the toe.  All were different whether they were the same design or not.  Each one of those footprints was beautiful in its own way and contributed to the beauty of the whole picture.

It made me think how we, too, are all beautiful!  I started to think about our footprints in life – the way we live our lives and what people might see or notice when we pass their way.  Some may have a loud, heavy manner.  This might be the footprint that takes away all the snow or tries to take all the power, dignity, or self-respect of the people they encounter; one who is often angry and unhappy.   Others have a lighter footprint, a peace and warmth that others want and like to be around.  One who is usually happy and spreads their joy and excitement of life far and wide.  And then there are all those in between.

We need many more of the lighter footprints in these unusual times!  We all have a light within us that we need to shine brightly, right now more than ever.  You probably know people who let that light shine out bright and clear.  Those are the ones with the light footprint who smile a lot, maybe make silly jokes or have an infectious laugh and laugh a lot.  These are people that make you smile just to see them.  These are people you want to be around, spend more time with.  Just being in their presence makes you feel better.

Each of us is beautiful in our own way like each of those footprints!  Especially when we let our lights shine as brightly as we can!  We encourage and invite others to do the same simply by being us.  How wonderful is that!

Imagine what this world would be like if we all shone our light as brightly as we could!  What a wonderful, peaceful, light and caring world this would be!  I like that idea.  I’m going to try to shine as brightly as I can, as much as I can.  How about you?
